Help!

So I'm struggling right now. As of now it doesn't look like there will be an open position. So my two options are stay assisting or sub. With assisting I would have insurance but would be making less money. With subbing I could get a lot of teaching experience and if I could get the days I would be making a lot more money, I mean it's $150 which is pretty good.  What do y'all think? I've talked to my principal and she is willing to work with me I just hate to leave her hanging!

***EDIT*****
So I just got a call for an interview, so maybe there is hope yet :) They wanted to do it ASAP so I will be interviewing for a Kindergarten position on monday!

****EDIT #2!********
OMG OMG OMG Freaking Out I just checked my email and I have another interview Monday for another K position in a different district! I'm getting excited now!

  1. That is a hard decision. Can you get insurance through another source or is this your only insurance? It may be worth keeping your job so you can have insurance. It seems you always need it the most when you don't have it. I know in the district I teach in, there are always opening after Christmas due to babies/early retirement. If you keep the TA position, could you be considered for an open teaching position during the school year. Sorry I'm not any help.
    Good luck!

  2. I would keep the assistant position because you are already working within the school so they know your face and abilities. You also are offered the insurance which as we know is a very important thing to have; you never know when you are going to need it! I think once a job opens you will be more likely the first one to know since you are in a more stable position at the school versus here and there subbing. I wish you the best! :)

  3. I think that the assistant position is more of an "in" for you if there is a position that opens at your school. I'm sorry to hear that you are in such a predicament. Good luck!
